Q: Are you a Medicare/Medicaid certified nursing facility?
A: Yes, we are a 589-bed Medicare/Medicaid certified nursing facility owned and operated by the County of Beaver, and a member of the Pennsylvania Association of County Affiliated Homes. Friendship Ridge is licensed by The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Health, certified by The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare for participation in the Medicaid program and by The United States Department of Health and Human Services for participation in the Medicare program and is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Healthcare (ACHC).
Q: When are visiting hours?
A: Visiting hours are 24 hours per day. Just be aware that morning is our busiest time with the residents, so we ask family members to use their best judgment in regard to the morning hours and length of stay. Please note we lock our doors at 11 p.m., so please ring the doorbell.
Q: What can I expect from the nursing staff?
A: Our staff is committed to providing quality care to all of our residents. We are devoted to providing an environment that enriches life and supports the individual needs of all residents and their families. We maintain a safe, comfortable and secure living environment for all residents, as well as comply with all state and federal statutory, licensure, regulatory and contractual requirements.
Q: Who does the residents’ laundry?
A: Our facility provides laundry services to our residents. The cost is part of the per diem rate. The family can also elect to do the resident’s laundry at home.
Q: What happens to my house if I am deemed long-term care?
A: If a resident is deemed long-term care, please contact the County Assistance Office at 724.773.7528 for questions regarding Medicaid eligibility, allowable and non-allowable money, assets, etc. The following is information that must be provided to the County Assistance Office if applying for medical assistance:

Q: What methods of payment are accepted at the facility?
A: Medicaid, Medicare, Highmark, various insurances and private pay. Friendship Ridge charges an all inclusive rate for a resident’s routine care.

Q: What happens when my Medicare/Insurance no longer pays for my stay at the facility?
A: If the resident has the financial means to pay after the Medicare/Insurance coverage has ended, then the resident is responsible for the bill. If the resident does not have the means to pay, our facility will start the medical assistance application process for you.
Q: Can I go home for visits once I am admitted to your facility?
A: Yes, if the resident has a leave of absence order from the doctor. It is important to talk with the nurse to make sure if the visit will be overnight, insurance coverage will not be affected.
Q: Will I be responsible for a phone and TV?
A: A courtesy phone is available on each nurses unit for the residents to use. Residents can also bring their cell phone if they choose. The resident can bring in a TV up to 19” with a stand, and cable is available for $6 per month.
Q: Can the family pet visit?
A: Yes. Family pets are welcome. Please make sure you have a copy of current vaccinations, which you can give to activities on the pet’s first visit. Please be mindful of your pet when in the facility, and follow the rules provided.
Q: How often will the resident see a doctor?
A: The doctor is required to come in and see the resident shortly after admission. Thereafter by regulation, they must visit monthly for the first 90 days, and then every sixty days. If the resident has a change in condition or becomes ill, the nurse will contact the doctor immediately for orders. Physician is available 24 hours per day.
Q: Are there designated smoking areas?
A: In accordance with the Clean Indoor Air Act signed into law September 11, 2008, smoking is prohibited in county buildings and facilities. This prohibition, however, does not include designated smoking areas for residents at Friendship Ridge. Employees and visitors may smoke in areas outside County buildings and facilities and away from any entrances/exits. Specific outdoor smoking areas have been designated at the facility.
